At this moment, Michal and I are on the Cornell bus to NYC.  Our summer adventure has officially started.  Let me take you through our day so far.  I started off my day at Convenient Care and was given a diagnosis of bronchitis along with the encouraging words of, “You’ll probably have this cough for at least another 3 weeks.”   Yes, I will be that annoying person on the plane who does not stop coughing…

Last night as we were packing our bags, I noticed that the suitcase I had packed was broken.  It was too late to go out and get a new one, so Michal went suitcase shopping this morning.  The one he returned with was too small, so he had to go back out and get a larger one.  The suitcase ended up being packed about 20 mins before we needed to leave.  While he was out running around and exchanging suitcases, he also stopped to pick up things to make sandwiches for our bus ride (Michal makes pretty awesome sandwiches).  Well, as we pulled into the parking lot to get on the bus, I realized I left the sandwiches in the fridge.  This is a classic Aubrey move.  It has got to be at least the 3rd time in the last few months that we have made sandwiches for some sort of trip and I left them in the fridge.  Guess that means we get to start our diet of granola bars and trail mix a day ahead of time.

If traffic isn’t bad, we should in NYC in about 3.5 hours.  We will spend the evening with my Aunt Jackie before heading off to Europe tomorrow afternoon. We are scheduled to fly from JFK to Amsterdam to Berlin; then we have a 5 hour bus ride to Michal’s parents’ house in Poland.   From the time we leave the place we are staying in NYC to the time we arrive at Michal’s parents’ house, it should take about 26 hours if everything goes smoothly.  Last time we flew through Amsterdam it ended up taking us a solid 48 hours to get to arrive at our destination…  Send positive travel vibes our way!
